We are a local building company who have been working in the York area for 35 years with recent projects in the Ryedale area
We offer a 1st class service, managing your project from start to finish. We offer quality workmanship and great value for money.
Pat Martin served his apprenticeship in York. Initially specialising in bricklaying, he soon progressed to all aspects of the building trade which he has continued to do for the last 35 years, mainly working as a subcontractor for large York based companies.
Pat's experience includes: new builds, property refurbishment & restoration, home extension and general property repairs both internal and external.
Pat set up his own company 'P Martin Builders' in 2014 and employs only quality tradesmen who can work to Pat's own high standards.
The business now employs an apprentice who is training through York College to ensure the continuation of quality workmanship.

My wife and I required a retaining wall to be constructed between our property and a neighbours driveway to cater for a large height difference in the levels of the driveways.
A meeting was held to discuss the requirements at which numerous helpful suggestions were made and accepted following which a highly competitive quotation was submitted which included a detailed description of the work to be carried out and the materials to be used together with a starting date and a finishing date to be carried out. and was accepted.
The work commenced on the due start date and was completed by specified completion date. The construction work was carried out in a neat and tidy manner with minimal disruption and the workforce were pleasant and helpful at all times including keeping our neighbour informed as to the work to be undertaken.

Pat Martin is a very good tradesman. He and his team built a kitchen extension, garage with bedroom above for us. He also laid a patio for us which is a fantastic job. I required an extension and an upstairs bathroom. I had an architect draw up plans and after obtaining planning permission, a local builder recommended P Martin Builders. Pat came round and discussed the architect’s plans. A week or so later Pat came round again and showed me the estimate of the cost which detailed everything that would be done and the price which was just inside my budget, so we set a start date and an idea of how long it would take.
Pat organised the tradesmen ( joiners, electricians etc who were all excellent).
Throughout the work Pat was in constant touch …. “did I want this thing there or there?”. Even better, when I wasn’t sure he would point out the better thing to do and gave me a reason which I would not have thought of.
Did the work come in on budget? - Pat’s work DID come in on budget (but I kept throwing in extras.)
Did the work get finished on time?
We had the worst winter for a few years, so the original estimate of four months turned out to be a bit longer. I blame the Met Office.
Was the work of good quality?
The building work has been perfect, the brickwork is amazing, blending perfectly with existing brickwork and the local houses. The organisation of all the other tradesmen was spot on, the inspectors have passed everything.
Some comments from neighbours include: "This is totally different ... this is brilliant" , "Fantastic, who did you get as a builder?" , "This has transformed the whole house, amazing", "Wow that brickwork .... that fits perfectly"
I could go on, people are stunned by the transformation.
So would I employ Pat again?
If I move to South Devon and want building work done again I would pay Pat to go down there and live there for a while. He is that good, it would be worthwhile.

We recently had a rear extension completed by Pat and his team through many recommendations from the local area and they did not disappoint!!
Pat guides us through the entire process from start to finish consulting us on every option we had available and offering his expertise. His flexibility was extremely welcomed as we were guilty of changing plans mid build but Pat went the extra mile to accommodate us.

I can highly recommend Pat Martin builders. The work was complex involving complicated steel work but at no point did I worry as everything was explained to me and I was consulted at all times about the work going on and allowed to be flexible during the build on changes and decisions.
